SAT – ACT

SAT:
The SAT is widely used by institutes for college admissions in USA and many countries. The SAT assesses how well the test takers analyze and solve problems – skills they learned in school that they will need in college. A high SAT score is imperative to gain admission in the IVY League colleges in USA.

Subjects:
Reading – 52 questions – 65 minutes
Writing/Language – 44 questions – 35 minutes Mathematics (No calc) –  25 questions (5 Grid-in) – 25 minutes
Mathematics (With calc) –  38 questions (8 Grid-in) – 55 minutes
Essay – 1 essay – 50 minutes

Duration: About 3 hours 50 minutes
Offered: Paper-based, 7 times a year (January, March, May, June, October, November, December)
Scoring
• Mathematics (both sections combined): 200-800 (10 point increments)
• Verbal (both sections combined): 200-800 (10 point increments)
• Essay: 2-8 on each of three measures of reading, analysis and writing


ACT: The ACT is a standardised test widely used for college admissions in the United States and many other countries.

Subjects:
English – 75 questions – 45 minutes
Reading – 40 questions – 35 minutes 
Science – 40 questions – 35 minutes 
Mathematics – 60 questions – 60 minutes
Essay – 1 essay – 40 minutes

Duration: 2 hours 55 minutes
Offered: Pen-Paper: October, December, April, June
Scoring: Mathematics: 1-36 (1 point increments)
Reading: 1-36 (1 point increments)
Science: 1-36 (1 point increments)
English: 1-36 (1 point increments)
Maths, Reading, English & Science scores are averaged to get the overall score
Writing: 1-36 (1 point increments)
