What is the GRE?

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a standardized test created and administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS).

The GRE is used by graduate schools in USA and other countries as a part of their admission process. It is used for a wide variety of programs like economics, engineering, liberal arts and even MBA.

Subjects:
Analytical writing – 2 tasks (Analyse an Issue and Analyse an Argument) – 30 minutes each
Quantitative reasoning – 2 sections (sections are adaptive) – 20 questions per section – 35 minutes each Verbal reasoning – 2 sections (sections are adaptive) – 20 questions per section – 30 minutes each

Duration: About 3 hours and 45 minutes (includes 1-minute breaks after each section and a 10-minute break after third section)
Offered: Computer-based, multiple times a year
Scoring: • Analytical Writing: 0-6 (0.5 point increments)
• Verbal: 130-170 (1 point increments)
• Quantitative: 130-170 (1 point increments)
